Our Marbella recommendations, written with the same care as the welcome book we leave in the suites.

We write these pages ourselves, because we live here, and they set down the same things we tell a guest who asks what to do with three days ahead of them.

They are written for people staying in the centre who want to enjoy the town without a car, which is how Marbella works best. We revise them from time to time, because places change and we would like what you read here to still be true when you arrive.

Five things we like to mention before you arrive

The centre is walkable. The old town is three minutes away, the beach is straight ahead, and the promenade runs all the way to Puerto Banús if you feel like it.

The Dalí sculptures are out in the street. Ten bronzes in the open air on Avenida del Mar, on the way to the beach, with no ticket and no opening hours.

The sea holds the summer warmth. In October the water is still mild, milder than in June, and the town is quiet: one of our favourite times of year.

A sardine espeto is essential. Sardines grilled over embers on the beach itself, at their very best from May to August.

Check-in is open until midnight. A six-digit code, no waiting for anybody, whatever time you land.
